This hexagonal bowl was created during the Tongzhi period (1862-1874) of the Qing Dynasty, a time when traditional Chinese
porcelain production experienced a revival after the Taiping Rebellion.
This famille rose palette is characterized by opaque enamels
including pink derived from colloidal gold, was perfected in the 18th century and
remained popular throughout the 19thn century.
The bowl features traditional Chinese figures in colorful robes, likely depicting scholars or immortals, painted in
the distinctive wucai (five-color) style combined with famille rose enamels. The turquoise interior glaze and gilt rim are also unique to this six sided bowl.
