These tiles originate from the Dutch Golden
Age, when Delftware production flourished
in the Netherlands during the 17th century.
Dutch potters adapted Chinese porcelain
designs, creating distinctive blue-and-white
tin-glazed earthenware that became highly
prized across Europe. The Wan-Li corner
pattern, characterized by geometric
interlocking designs in the corners, was
inspired by Chinese porcelain from the Wanli
period and became a hallmark of early Delft
tiles. These tiles typically decorated the
walls of homes, particularly around
fireplaces and in kitchens, serving both
decorative and practical purposes.
